1937 George Vanderbilt Cup Race Souvenir Race Car Pinback. The race was held on July 5th 1937. Great Britain, France, Italy, Germany and the United States had their best drivers and cars to race in a 300 mile dirt track competition in Roosevelt Raceway in Long Island. The Vanderbilt Cup was the first major trophy in American auto racing. An international event, it was founded by William Kissam Vanderbilt II in 1904. There were no races in 1907, 1913, and 1917-1935. The Vanderbilt Cup was not held again until 1936 when William Kissam Vanderbilt II's nephew, George Washington Vanderbilt III picked up the cause and sponsored a 300-mile (480 km) race at the new facilities at Roosevelt Raceway. Once again, the Europeans were enticed by the substantial prize money and Scuderia Ferrari entered three Alfa Romeo racers. A lack of American competition and a less-tha

This WKC Example is a textbook piece throughout. The hilt fittings have fine silvering with no pitting or any problems whatsoever. The pommel shows a little bit of wear around the edges and the standing oak leaves are in outstanding condition with their enhanced veining. The crossguard exhibits the 'hatchet beak' eagle head and is completely crisp throughout the birds breast and wing feathering wreath and swastika. The ferrule is nicely patinated matching the other fittings. The grip is a Yellowish / Orange color, and is perfect.
The scabbard is an outstanding example still having some frosting on the edges and around the throat area where protected by the in place guard. The scabbard is straight and perfect. The bands are excellent depicting the overlapping oak leaves with hand enhancing.
The throat is a thicker variety and is retained by two screws.
The blade is nice being in excellent condition w/ pointy tip.
The original large style leather washer is in place.

History:
Awarded the Knights Cross: On 29.07.1944 Schrijnen was serving as the crew of a Pak 40 in the middle of a major Soviet tank/infantry attack. His position was hit by a heavy artillery barrage, with several rounds impacting just 10 meters behind the gun. Schrijnen was hit by several shell splinters, but the four other crewman all became casualties. Under the weight of the Soviet attack the order was given to withdraw. Schrijnen however disobeyed the order and remained behind to cover his comrade

Two roughly, 21mm diameter, silver washed, die stamped, alloy construction belt support ramp buttons with a pebbled finish and a roughly, 30mm tall, 23mm wide, integral, vertically rectangular, base plate with eight evenly spaced, punched stitch holes to each. The base plates have a small horizontal panel at the bottom edges that extend out to the bottom edges of the buttons. The horizontal panels are both well marked w/clear impressed manufacturer?s RZM/SS contract code number and date, '36/39', flanked by SS runes and the RZM logo within dual circular outer borders.

Constructed of bronze, the obverse consisting of a German national eagle clutching
a wreathed mobile swastika, set above a Nuremberg skyline and an inscription of
'NSDAP REICHSPARTEITAG NURNBERG 1933', the reverse with a vertical pinback,
unmarked, measuring 33.76 mm (w) x 51.75 mm (h), weighing 32.6 grams,
the reverse demonstrating minor oxidation, in extremely fine condition.

Weimar Republic - Deutsches Feld-Ehrenzeichen Hamburg.
The award could be applied for and worn to commemorate service in World War I. This semi-official award denoted war service without requiring membership in other veteran organizations. Its awarding and wear was banned in November 1935. It is constructed out of a multi-piece die struck nickel-silver/tombak base that has been silver washed and burnished, gold gilded and contains white enamel work. The obverse depicts a centrally placed oval emblem of a battle wary soldier returning home from WWI, surrounded by a beaded golden border above a white enameled patte style cross and two crossed golden broad swords, all above able a six-pointed star. The full back reverse shows two rivets and reads: 'Deutsches Feld-Ehrenzeichen Hamburg 3'. and 'Ges. Gesch.' It also has a soldered-on sheet metal hinge, round wire catch and round wire pin. It measures 2 inches tall by 2 1/8 inches wide.

Original set of Latvian SS Collar Tab Runes
these are well documented in photographic evidence that they
were indeed worn & issued to the Latvian Waffen SS.
Textbook example of the supporting members lapel pin made by Deschler of Munich.
The pin features an enameled obverse, serial numbered and maker's marked reverse.
Marked '15383' to reverse along with 'Ges Gesch' and 'Deschler MCHN 9'.

SS-FM, Fordernde Mitglieder, (SS Sponsoring/Patron Members), This organization was originally formed in 1926 by personnel who wished to join the Allgemeine-SS, (General-SS), but were found unsuitable for direct membership. Membership in the SS-FM was open to all male and female German Aryan personnel who agreed to make a voluntary monthly contribution to the SS treasury in order to strengthen the financial position of the SS and to expand its influence in civilian life.
