An extremely scarce German Condor Legion Tank Assault badge for the German and Spanish tank crews serving in the Spanish Civil War. The badge is the German issue and is in excellent condition retaining all finish. Correct needle pin and hook for the German made badge. Examples of both types of this badge are extremely rare. In near mint condition.
There are no traces of the gilt and silver wash remaining. The hinge, pin and catch are intact but there is a wartime field repair to the catch. It has been resoldered. This original badge is marked with the designers name "Fec. Otto Placzek. Berlin" and the makers name "Ausf. C.E. Junker. Berlin".
Late war die struck zinc construction. The late war examples don't have cut-outs between the arms of the swastika. Awarded to all ranks of U-Boat personnel who had served on at least two missions against the enemy or were wounded in action. This appears to be an unmarked Steinhaur & Luck example.
Magnetic, three piece construction. There is a small amount of wear to the black paint on the swastika and "1939". Original and complete with the hinge, pin and catch intact. A nice cross. Unmarked.

BRONZE INFANTRY ASSAULT BADGE WITH SCREW BACK
A most unusual and controversial badge, Infantry Assault Badge with screw-back fittings
and Clamshell disc. The badge exhibits great detail, in near mint condition.
Private purchase or Unless it was custom made for a high ranking officer.
Maker marked on reverse with Alois Rettenmeier. 'AR' logo
I turned the monogram upside down and there are the distinct initials 'AR' within a stylised 'half moon'
NOTE: General Assault Badges made by Schauerte & Hohfeld, Deumer, and Alois Rettenmaier had such devices,
but in the case of the Infantry Assault Badge, controversy remains.
Purchased from Michael Tucker (authenticmilitaria.com) in the 1990's
This very same actual badge is shown in his popular book Page 46 'Combat Badges of the Third Reich'
Most likely this badge is valued much more than it is listed here.
