Great Britain, France, Italy, Germany and the United States had their best drivers and cars to race in a 300 mile dirt track competition in Roosevelt Raceway in Long Island. The Vanderbilt Cup was the first major trophy in American auto racing. An international event, it was founded by William Kissam Vanderbilt II in 1904. There were no races in 1907, 1913, and 1917-1935. The Vanderbilt Cup was not held again until 1936 when William Kissam Vanderbilt II's nephew, George Washington Vanderbilt III picked up the cause and sponsored a 300-mile (480 km) race at the new facilities at Roosevelt Raceway. I got tired of researching, but what I found was prices for maybe half of this stuff. my rough estimate of the internet prices totals about $300-$400.

The ribbons are surprisingly scarce. Most members who were officers got these, and most of these examples are from the 1950s- into the 1960s. The cap is unknown on the net!, The metal badges vary in value.
I got these things over the last 30 years of estate sales and I have some vintage paperwork I will throw in if I can locate it.
These original US Army Spalding marked 1917 dated saddlebags are 100+ year old M1904/1917 2nd pattern bags, with the overlapping reinforced center joint.
The saddle bags are the proper M1924 conversion, with the outside pocket added.
They are made of heavy top grain saddle grade cowhide , supple, fine, and original in every respect.
The flaps, with an embossed "US", and bags are pebble grain patterned.
Included, are the canvas bag liners (one with utensil pockets)
CANVAS LINERS: Good condition - no tears - small minor stains.
The off side has 2 small pockets - the near side has no pockets; both liners are in the same general condition.
The 3 army issue condiment bags are also present.
These are in simply spectacular condition.

Mint condition WW2 issue US Navy NDO Mk1 Optical Gas Mask made for the Navy by "Mine Safety Appliances Company in Pittsburg, PA" complete with face mask, inner protection shield for lens, instructions card, defogging solution for lens, 1 outer cloth len cover & canvas satchel carrying bag, It was made ready for use but IMO never used since the tape on the canister has not been removed.
