This buckle is the second pattern Luftschutz buckle, (circa May 1937-January 1939), die stamped, aluminum construction, box belt buckle with a matte silver/gray finish. The buckle features a smooth, outer field with a high relief, embossed Luftschutz emblem to the center. The Luftschutz emblem consists of stylized, outstretched wings with a central oak-leaf cluster with a canted swastika to the bottom and a scripted banner, "LUFTSCHUTZ," to the top. The reverse of the buckle is a mirror image of the obverse. The reverse has the brazed buckle catch, the prong bar and the prongs all intact. There are no maker marks to be found. This medal was instituted on 30 January 1938 (1938-1945 issue). It is constructed of silvered fine zinc, on a loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a circular oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, the obverse bearing a central mobile swastika, circumscribed by an inscription of "FUR VERDIENSTE IM LUFTSCHUTZ" ("FOR MERIT IN AIR DEFENCE"). The reverse bearing a raised date of "1938" and is the ring is marked, but I cannot make out the maker mark. The medal measures 38.58 mm (w) by 43.13 mm (h) and weighing 25.5 grams. A 2" x 2" Luftwaffe regimental banner on a 4" pole. Made in the 1930s for marching toy soldiers. Yellow banner with white and back cross with swastikas on each corner, and a Luftwaffe eagle in a wreath in the center. The obverse is the same except it has an Iron Cross in the center of the wreath. A couple of minor knicks in the yellow paint but does not detract. Flag has a good shine to it. I have four SOLD; and four (4) of these left for sale individually or we can make a deal for a group of them.

Back in the 80's, these beer steins were the vogue. I collected quite a few, big names, including Rogge, Rudel, His tail gunners, Hans Phillip (missed out on his KC document a few years back) and Dieter Von Eichel (who was a VW dealer in Modesto ). I went to the German Army Museum back in the early 90's and inquired of the history section there about these steins. They advised me they were made for American collectors. So, am passing them on at a loss to you if you wish to display or drink from them at a get together at some time. Nicely made, and full of markings, some have information about the person. It consists of two silver braids as angles on a black fabric triangle. Looks to be an early manufacture lacking any backing material. A solid 1943 hand-dated Luftwaffe Enlisted NCO visor cap. Gold-Yellow piping for flying or aviation ground troops. Several moth bites: 2 on the top edges; and 2 on the undersides. This buckle is constructed of aluminum, the obverse bearing a raised Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, situated within an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined by four clips that are all in place. The reverse with two attachment prongs emanating from a functional roller and measures 62 mm (w) by 48 mm (h). Mr. Angolia states that it was normal for these buckles to remain unmarked. This is a very early buckle that is in extremely fine condition and very clean. This buckle is discussed in "Belt, Buckles, & Brocades of the Third Reich - Revised Edition" by LTC J.R. If they ARE NOT guaranteed it will be stated in the description. This is a Luftwaffe Private Chevron (Luftwaffe Armelabzeichen Gefreiter). The Luftwaffe introduced a series of three rank chevrons on March 4th 1938 for wear by the enlisted ranks of Gefreiter, Obergefreiter and Hauptgefreiter with one chevron indicating the rank of Gefreiter, two chevrons for the rank of Obergefreiter, and three chevrons for the rank of Hauptgefreiter. The Gefreiter's rank insignia consists of a machine woven, bright silver/aluminum waffle patterned chevron mounted on a Luftwaffe blue/grey wool triangular base. Interesting still 100% original pressed paper protective backing intact to the reverse. This is a set of Luftwaffe Administrative Elevated Official's Collar Tabs (Luftwaffe Paar Kragenspiegel fur einen Beamten im Range eines Oberleutnants). This is a set of pre-1944 constructed pair of dark green wool construction collar tabs with two hand embroidered triangular rank pips above an oak-leaf half-wreath all in bright silver/aluminum wire threads to each. The collar tabs are piped in twisted bright, silver/aluminum cord and are mounted on light Brown, stiff cardboard backings.
