This is the 1939 pattern, die stamped, steel construction, hollow backed badge with a black wash. The badge is in the form of an embossed, vertically oval, laurel leaf wreath encompassing an embossed profile of an M35 pattern helmet with a high relief, canted, swastika to the center, superimposed over crossed swords on a pebbled base field. Complete with original hinge, pin and catch assembly. This badge is late war and retains almost all of its' black wash, except on the raised swastika. There is no maker mark. As you can see this M-35 was upgraded around the Battle of France and when issued was a combat finish single over the original parade green double. For and 80 year old war helmet, it is as fine as anybody could reasonably expect to find.

Private-purchase pioneers (Engineers) oberfeldwebel early war service tunic. Field-gray wool construction with machine-embroidered breast eagle. Nice unteroffizier (NCO) braid running around the collar and shoulder straps. As required by wartime use, the shoulder straps unit numbers are missing. Original ribbon loops. Beautifuly tailored in a very light weight summer wool. Looks fantastic on a torso. Has integral belt inside and also slot for wearing on the dagger. Some light wear under the arms from normal use. 1 very small moth hole under the right sleeve.

New regs dictated the end of the earlier bottle green collared "M-36" types, and this was pretty much the first type of all field gray tunic. Yet still retained pleated pockets, and scalloped flaps, as well as earlier style tabs. This is a rare type and in excellent condition

Original Large Propaganda Color Prints. The set this come from is pretty famous. Many of the prints appeared as art for books, magazine articles, and were found all nicely framed, on walls all over Germany during the war. The propaganda war correspondents of the Wehrmacht photographed the war with fine cameras, and used color film. Since they were right there where the action was, they documented every facet of the ground war and captured great moments. The propaganda bosses ordered a set of "official War Action" prints suitable for framing, to remind everybody how well the Fuhrer's wars were going, and keep people fascinated with their Heroes. These are from that set. A commercial print today by a private artist just selling his work can be hundreds , and here we have original Nazi Manufactured 70 year old color prints that are exceptional quality relics suitable for decorating your war room for only $25 each. These are not beat up moth eaten stained trash like is so often seen. These were the survivors of the war up until after France, when almost all surviving Infantry enlisted ranks, got promotes to NCO. After 1940 the base uniform color changed to field gray. If you see something you want, let me know. You are either serious about collection, or you are not.

This started life as a standard M42 Feldmuetze, and was converted, as many were, into the more popular M43 style Einheitsmuetze. This particular one was modified for the armor specialty. It was redyed black, with the M43 style visor (in original black material) added. The visor is similar to the Bergmuetze, typical for this modification. The insignia is the black "T" style with eagle and cockade combined. The insignia has suffered a bit over time, so I did add a couple of stitches back in 1974 to stabilize it. The forehead sweatband is pretty much gone, but a stiff leather portion remains. The visor displays wear and is no longer stiff. Must have been stuffed in a pocket many times. As one would expect, there is fading and nap wear, but it is right where it should be! The cap is a size 57, and bears the owner's name (Krauss). Original German Army General Schirmmuetze (service cap) produced by EREL, size 56 1/2. It has been in my collection since 1968; previous to that it had been in the possession of its "liberator". This appears by construction, to be an EREL PRIVAT; unfortunately the sweat diamond is missing. Typical "EREL PATENT STIRNSCHUTZ" embossed in the leather sweatband. This particular cap has the gilt insignia authorized in 1943. I believe that the original owner changed out the standard aluminum eagle and cockade with the gilt insignia, as faint traces of a two prong eagle appear to be on the cap behind the gilt center vertical needle (prong) eagle by Assmann & Soehne. This was quite common practice. The needle has been repaired, a wartime repair, as far as I have been able to ascertain. The aluminum eagle may be a Kriegsmarine replacement based on the vertical single needle configuration, and the 1941 date. The quality of the gilt is exceptional.
