A perfect example of the Freiwillige or Volunteer Legion Buckle. I am of the opinion that these are NOT penal battalion buckles as has been so long thought. I have seen photos of these on foreign troops of the Wehrmacht. This is NEAR mint condition.
I have dropped the price from $150 to move it out!
North Vietnamese Army Officer Belt and buckle
Original Bring Back from Cu-Chi tunnels area.
Lots of fakes and modern junk out there but comparatively few real ones like this!
This rare and costly buckle was faked as early as 1984, but the replicas are shabby compared to an original.
About the same time the "Czech SS Aluminum EM" Buckles, started appearing in the displays of the European dealers at our USA Shows.
Almost every example I have had in hand since that time has been a fraudulent piece of junk. Sure they look pretty at first glance, but side by side with this genuine one I own they just do not compare.
So if you want to bargain hunt good luck.
If you want to own a dead mint original, here it is.
mid to late war steel gray general issue buckle almost 100% condition with some light rubs to the surface... Check out the European guys asking $250 and $300!
I am selling off my nearly forty year collection pieces of mixed Third Reich Militaria. Some pieces will not be guaranteed because there are simply too many fakes. If they ARE NOT guaranteed it will be stated in the description.
This is the Sturmabteilungen-SA EM/NCO Brass Buckle - 21(1).1a (SA Koppelschloss mit aufgeloteter Auflage). This is a brass SA dress belt buckle with a soldered nickel overlay with clear signs of age including a crease over the center and some missing parts. The roll bar and prongs have been lost over time. It is a variation with the sun wheel swastika under the eagle. This buckle is discussed in "Belt, Buckles, & Brocades of the Third Reich - Revised Edition" by LTC J.R. Angolia (1st Edition), page 174. Still this buckle is a good display piece until you can afford a better one.
** BEFORE BIDDING PLEASE READ THIS FINE PRINT CAREFULLY **
