This is a Wehrmacht Heer General Assault Badge (Allgemeines Sturmabzeichen Feinzink versilber). It is die struck, solid backed, fine zinc construction award with a silver finish. The nicely detailed badge features a cutout, high relief Wehrmacht styled eagle with down-swept wings positioned above a crossed bayonet and stick grenade, and encompassed by an embossed, vertically oval, oak-leaf wreath. The reverse is complete with pin and catch assembly. No maker mark. Overall, a nice badge to be displayed.

For your consideration is a close combat clasp cased. Came from an old Los Angeles estate years ago. I understand that Hitler liked to aware these personally. Case is nice, couple of scuff marks on the bottom , nothing major. Marked on left side of badge FEC MF Peekhaus Berlin and the right side is AUSF AGMuk Gablonz. Haven't seen many of these cased, or in fact many at all.
Here is a wonderful heavybadge marked OM. I have always liked these badges due to the cut out between the legs of the eagle. I understand OM could stand for Maybauer , but many say this is an unknown maker. Regardless, a nice Luftwaffe badge with plenty of detail and a great addition to your collection.

This is an Armed Forces 1939 Black Wound Badge, Third Class (Verwundetenabzeichen 1939 in Schwarz). This is an early example, B Type, made of die stamped brass based metal with a black color paint wash. It is clearly maker marked to the reverse "L/11" for "Wilhelm Deumer, Ludenscheid." The hinge, pin and catch all intact to the reverse. The badge is in very good used condition with paint loss to the most exposed parts as seen on real used examples.

Very beautiful badge, finely detailed. Always liked this one since I picked it up in the 80's. Understand some Luftwaffe pilots have been awarded this badge. Nice construction, marked on reverse 800.
OK First the technical stuff. and later the story.
First examine all the edges front and rear. Perfectly sheared all around to an even thin wall.
This being an arched award, that precision was never present on any early replicas. (things cost dollars, not thousands, back then. A set of hand carved stamping dies cost? They would have had to manufacture thousands just to break even on die cost alone, at those prices, and good luck finding another example today.
Second actually examine the appearance front and back. NOT GOOFY like what is floating around.
The zinc oxide is not yet any issue, just tiny surface specks. A q-tip and light oil will erase in and protect the surface for years.
Today's new collectors are too poorly informed and not considering factors other than appearance, and the opinions of internet gurus on forums.

This is an Armed Forces 1939 Black Wound Badge, Third Class (Verwundetenabzeichen 1939 in Schwarz). This is the 1939 pattern, die stamped, steel construction, hollow backed badge with a black wash. The badge is in the form of an embossed, vertically oval, laurel leaf wreath encompassing an embossed profile of an M35 pattern helmet with a high relief, canted, swastika to the center, superimposed over crossed swords on a pebbled base field. Complete with original hinge, pin and catch assembly. This badge is late war and retains almost all of its' black wash, except on the raised swastika. There is no maker mark. Very clean!

This is the E-Boat badge 42-43, 1st Pattern (Schnellboot-Kriegsabzeichen 1. Modell). This war badge is the Type A badge made of Tombak, gold-plated wreath with polished edges and swastika; silver-plated ship, burnished waves. On the revers on the transverse needle, marked "Schwerin Berlin 68" on the back. This is a difficult to find badge and this one is in excellent condition. Forman's guide, Volume 2 values this badge at $1200-1500 (page 19). Weighs 32.78g.

I'm thinning out my collection and this is one I'm reluctantly letting go of. It's a beautiful early paratrooper badge marked GH OSANG Dresden on the rear. Pin and catch work excellent. Typical Tombak dome shaped rivets are tight. The eagle is Tombak and is lightly worn but there's still great detail. It weighs exactly 38.1g.

World War II German Crimean Shield Krimschild with Award Document for Gustav Havel of the 3rd Battalion, 1st Heavy Howitzer Regiment, 1st Panzerarmee (Army Group South). The Document is signed by the Chief of the General Staff of 1st Panzerarmee, Generalmajor Ernst-Felix F?ckenstedt. The reverse is blank, and clean. These two 1942 ORIGINAL items were acquired together. The Krimschild is a less common, 3 - prong (as opposed to the more common 4 - prong) type. The Bronze wash is about all worn away, exposing the Zinc beneath. It's mounted on dark cloth (black that has faded a bit?), likely from a black panzer tunic.

The zinc version with square wire catch that Marc Garlasco shows
in his addendum to his flak badge books seems to be the twin to this one
with regards to the silver/copper finish. The copper seen is where the silver
has worn exposing the copper flashing that has been applied over the base
zinc to seal it for the silver to better bond with the badge.

This is a textbook example of a Kriegsmarine submarine badge; die struck, solid backed, alloy construction badge; the obverse in the form of a horizontal oval laurel leaf wreath, with a national eagle placed atop of the badge clutching a mobile swastika and a submarine in the center of the badge; in fire gilded tombac; the reverse plain, with a vertical slender banjo style pin-back, a barrel hinge, and a round wire catch; maker-marked "SCHWERIN, BERLIN 68" on the reverse; measuring 47.80 mm x 38.81 mm; weighing 25.3 grams; accompanied
Quality Luftwaffe Pilot Badge with the logo of BSW in a three leaf clover indicating the maker, Bruder Schneider A.G., an accepted quality maker of badges. I don't understand why this maker put their logo up-side down, but that is the way it is always found. Pin has a couple of very minor and shallow bends that the next owner, if he desires, can attempt to straighten. I leave them as found, as I think, if minor, lends to character. The high quality of the strike, metal and construction indicates an pre or early war badge. Excellent

Luftwaffe Pilot/Observer Badge of un-marked construction. Wreath gilding has some minor age fading, and eagle's powdered silver finish has some darkening. An honest guaranteed original at a fair price. Very Good
Luftwaffe unmarked Unqualified Gunner Badge. This badge, along with an unqualified Radioman/Gunner Badge, were introduced in April, 1944, to personnel who were not qualified, but had taken part in at least ten missions (less if wounded in action). It was in the reverse of the colors of the qualified badges, having a black wreath and silver eagle. These two Unqualified Badges are considered very scarce. Low Excellent
Condor Legion Wound Badge in Black issued for up to two wounds. Only a total of 182 of this class of wound badge was issued to German personnel during the Spanish Civil War from July, 1936 to March 1939. This early pattern stamped wound badge bore the WW1 style helmet with a raised swastika on the helmet. This badge is a unusual, having a screw-on back as opposed to most which were pin-back. This badge shows it's age in that paint shows wear to swastika and helmet, and to minor wear to highlights of badge detail. The screw-on has surface rusting to both sides, but could look better from someone giving it a little TLC. Good
Luftwaffe Ground Combat Badge awarded for three separate actions of front line duty. This un-marked badge has a riveted separate silver eagle that nicely compliments the darkened highlights of the silver wreath. Apparently, this was an awarded and worn badge, as the name "Aroben" or "Arober" is scratched on the reverse. This badge was obtained from a veteran's bring-backs, and had been only in his "collection" prior to me. One of the few named badges I have owned that I know was not "named" in this country after the war. What was probably a medium grey reverse is now a mottled light and dark grey. High Good
Silver Tank Badge by "A.S" (Adolf Scholze), a nice quality badge. Obverse shows some minor darkening, primarily to the barrel, headlights and right front (facing tank) of tank fender and treads, as well to the upper portion of the eagle and upper left portion of the oak leaves. Reverse has some darkening in the tank depression. My nit-picking makes it sound worse than if you had it in your hands. High Good
Krim Shield with navy-blue material indicating for issue to an individual in the Kriegsmarine. Hitler ordered that all personnel who were honorably engaged in combat in Crimea were authorized to wear this shield. It is interesting to note that there was very specific criteria for the award of this shield in that the individual had to have served for three months in the area, wounded or took part in at least one major engagement. This was to prevent staff officers from making short "official" visits to this area in order to qualify for another decoration. This badge is unused with the obverse finish intact. The reverse flimsy paper backing shows its age with much of the paper edging flakind off. Low Excellent
Kriegsmarine un-marked High Seas Fleet Badge with near perfect bright wreath and eagle gilding. Ship details sharp and well defined, as an original should be. Reverse has large dark areas to gilding due to wear and age. Pin has a slight bend, but I will leave that to the next owner should he decide to straighten. Fairly priced at Low Excellent.
Mine Sweeper, Sub Chaser and Escort Vessels War Badge. Awarded to men and officers of the ships for which the badge is named. This is an early un-marked quality badge with bright wreath and water plume. Excellent
Auxiliary Cruiser War Badge awarded for participation in a "successful long distance voyage by the crew of an auxiliary cruiser or supply ship". Ships sailing under the guise of neutral cargo ships were designated auxiliary cruisers. This un-marked badge has about 95% of the obverse gilding, with the riveted silver portion of the upper globe still bright. The reverse is dark, appearing that no gilding was ever applied. Pin, clasp and attachments still bright. Low Excellent

The German Cross in Silver was the non-combat class and it had the same award criteria as combat class. The German Cross in Silver is much rarer than the Cross in Gold, as only about 2,500 Silver Crosses were awarded, while about 26,000 Gold Crosses were awarded.

Nice Bulgarian Pilots badge, (somewhat rare). Bulgaria played a game between Germany and Russia, King Boris did a great job in doing this for a while until his hand was forced. Nice addition to an aviation collection. I don't have the document it Is shown for informational purposes only.

This is a Kriegsmarine Mine Sweepers, Sub-Chasers, & Escort Vessels War Badge 1940 (Minensucher-Kriegsabzeichen - R.K.). It is a Type badge in silver in excellent condition and marked "R.K." for "Rudolf A. Karnethz & Sohn, Gablonz." I purchased it in 1998 from a private collector. Forman's Guide to Third Reich German Awards & Documents, Volume 2" currently values this Badge at $175.00-250.00 (page 17).
